Jesus Christ Is The Best Friend You Could Ever Have

When you hear the name “Jesus Christ,” what comes into your mind? Most people would think it is probably religion, conversion, and all those religious thoughts and ideas. I could not blame them because religion has made a great impact on that Name.  

However, Jesus Christ is not a religion and he is not about religion. He is not just about your theology subject or a topic for theology discussion. Jesus Christ is actually a Person. He is a Person in search for relationship and friendship. I had come to know this personally when I was in 4th grade. I will never forget the day Jesus entered my life and my life has never been the same.

When I was still studying in school, I was unaware that I was living a life that seeks approval of my friends and classmates. As a result, I was creating lies in order to gain friends, attention and all those stuffs. For a while, I did gain friends but somehow, the still, small voice of God was convicting me of my wrongdoings. Eventually, the truth had to come out. My friends found out I was only making up stories about who I truly am. I did not lose people but I surely lost some of their trusts.

I became desperate and prayed to God to help me: help me change, help me become a true friend, and help me be real to myself. It was then that I encountered Jesus in a special way as a young child. I heard a gentle voice telling me to go to our altar, so I went there and found a few pamphlets on top of the altar. As far as I can remember, it was a pamphlet about salvation. 

At the back of the pamphlet it said something like John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ…” I had no idea that God had a Son. I only know God but never really knew He had a Son and as I read further, it said something like, “by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ He can take away all your sins”. It was at that moment that I received Jesus Christ in my heart. I was really sorry for the lies I had made and I wanted a second chance. It was summer when it all happened.

At the opening of the school year, I thought I had to face the same people whom I lied to but I trusted in what Jesus Christ can do since my encounter with Him really felt so real. 

Indeed, Jesus made a way. All sections were reshuffled and I had new set of classmates. I felt that Jesus was saying to me, “This is your second chance. Just be true yourself.” I was very happy at that moment and I really thanked Jesus for the second chance God has given me.

Starting that point of my life, I was never again ashamed to show my true self. I did not care if I had no money, if we were not rich or if I had no great things like others. I just knew that living in truth had set me free. I also started gaining many friends unimaginably. I knew that it was God. It was His doing.

Then, I came to realize that my first true friend was no other than JESUS CHRIST. He made my school life the best. You too can start to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

“For God so loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” – John 3:16-17.
