“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

God promised that once you decide to prioritize Him, He will not forget the things you want. Many times, we are impatient to immediately grab ahold of the breakthrough, the blessings and favors, which can lead many believers to fall into discouragement and disbelief in God. However, He is saying right now that you must persevere and not give up, especially when your situation seems to be going against you. Remember that suffering produces perseverance, character and hope.

(Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.) reminds us that “…what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”

Sometimes, it may also seem that you are planting in vain, and that following Jesus has made your life even more complicated – being hurt by a fellow Christian brother or sister; getting offended by so many things, sudden financial crises and more. However, all these tests are meant to build your character and strengthen your faith in God, so that when God’s promise comes, it won’t destroy you.

Take this as an example: Before God can entrust a huge amount of money to you, you must be faithful in the little that He gives, meaning that you will have to go through situations that will challenge your faith in God more than your faith in money. If God immediately entrusts a huge amount of money to a son or daughter who has a tendency to trust in money more than God, then that breakthrough will soon break that person.

Sometimes, it can take years of breaking before the breakthrough. That way, when God’s promise comes to pass, we won’t forget how faithful and good He is in difficult times, and your heart will always seek after Him more than the blessings, the breakthroughs, or anything else. As sons and daughters, our Father knows best.

God knows His timing and we must trust Him in all things, including the timings of His works. We have to learn to wait patiently, while simply enjoying the process we are going through. God’s will for us is to rejoice always in all circumstances.
