Your Value And Worth Is In Christ Alone

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. Phil 3:7-8

Before we were born into this world and could even open our eyes, the world had already constructed standards for us to live by. And sometimes we carry into our Christian life the standards, customs, and belief systems that we have embraced. That is why it is so important to read the Word of God for our minds to be renewed each day.

The ways of this world have taught us what it means to be beautiful and handsome, what being successful looks like, and even the aspect of entitlement mentality [Sonship vs. Ministerial position] in the Body of Christ. All these standards, rules, and values come from being orphaned from the Father since the time of Adam and Eve.

The world we live in is fallen, and everything we have believed and learned from this world came from the original orphan, which is Satan himself. We have placed our worth in things that, when we don’t have them, we feel we aren’t valuable, significant, or worthy. We begin to compare ourselves with others, and we become insecure about who we are.

In Philippians 3:4-8 we can see the Apostle Paul’s realization that nothing is more valuable than knowing Christ. He found that the almost perfect obedience to God’s laws that he followed for the Lord in the past, he now counted as nothing compared to knowing Jesus Christ. In knowing Christ, you begin to know who you really are as a child of God. Jesus Christ points you to the Father, and the Father lavishes his love on you, for He calls you His child (1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.).

You will experience no better peace than resting in who you are to the Father. In Christ, you begin to see that it is God’s presence that you carry within you that matters most, more than anything in this world. Then you begin to unload yourself of the unnecessary burdens, pressures, and emotions that you have carried—all lies of the enemy and impartations of broken junk from this broken world. Because you have found your peace in Christ Jesus, you no longer need to feel significant; you no longer consider yourself less valuable because of anything worldly. The Holy Spirit teaches you far greater things in the heavenly realm than in this world, which is temporal.
