Why You Need to Read God’s Word

God’s Word, written in the Bible is the basic daily need in a Christian’s life that without it, your life as a follower of Christ won’t be complete. Sadly, there are many young Christians in today’s generation do not even bother to read God’s Word when they are on their own. This is not what God wants for you because He knows that you need to hear His Words more than anything in your Christian life.

Romans 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The question you may be asking is, why do you need to read God’s Word when you have already accepted Jesus Christ in your life.

You need to continue reading God’s Word even if you have accepted Jesus Christ for these reasons:

  1. Romans 10:17 – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Your faith can only be stirred up when you consistently and continuously hear the Word of God. If you are not reading the Bible, how will you come to know more about Him? Reading God’s Word in your spare time everyday will increase your faith.

  1. Psalm 119:105 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

God’s Word is your source of light. Imagine staying in a house that has no electricity. That’s how life is without the Word of God. By reading it, He will give you wisdom on how to live your life that will accomplish His beautiful plans for you.

  1. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
  1. Isaiah 26:3 – Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

  1. Psalm 119:9 – Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

God’s Word will protect the purity of your Christian life. It will protect your mind from being corrupted and conformed from the patterns of the world.

  1. John 15:7 – If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Jesus Christ said that when his words remain in you, you will have more answered prayers because your prayers are aligned according to God’s will. This is how important it is when you read God’s Word because it will guide you, teach and correct you, keep you pure from the world’s corruption, and protect you in your new life with Christ.
