The Grace Of God Is Sufficient

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

What does God’s grace mean to you? When you hear the word “grace,” what comes into your mind? John 1:17 says that the law was given through Moses while grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. It tells us that law is separate from grace, and there’s a big difference between them.

So what is grace? God’s grace is vast, and its scope is holistic and immeasurable, for who can put a limit on the grace of God in this lifetime? But to put it simply, we all know that we have been saved by grace through our faith in Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:). It is by God’s grace through Jesus Christ that we received His forgiveness, redemption, and restoration of who we really are as children of our good Father. Because of what Jesus Christ has done, we all have been made righteous, accepted, and pleasing to the Father.

It is important that we understand the grace of God as a gift given to us. Grace is not something we obtain but something we receive. Whenever we stumble and fall, we don’t use grace as our excuse and say that it is okay to commit the same mistakes. The Grace of God is never a license for us to sin; it actually enables us to say “No” to sin and walk a straight path in Christ Jesus.

When the Apostle Paul experienced persecution and almost wanted to give up, he begged the Lord to remove the hardship from him, saying, “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me (2 Cor 12:8).” And then Paul says, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me (2 Corinthians 12:9).” In another version, it says that God’s grace is sufficient for us especially when we face difficulties in life. It is God’s grace that catches up and strengthens us to walk according to our identity as children of the Living God rather than allowing sin to enter into us.

You see, grace isn’t something to be associated with continuous and willful sin. When you sin willfully because you know that God’s grace is always available and so is His forgiveness, you are deceived; you have received the wrong concept of God’s grace. God’s grace is available to strengthen us in times of our weakness just as in the Apostle Paul’s experience. He said that he would even boast all the more of his weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest in him.

God knows that we are all still works in progress. We are daily transformed in our minds, and it is God’s grace that will keep us going in the race of faith. Whenever we stumble and fall, it is His grace that will strengthen us so we don’t give up. God’s grace is an amazing gift to us—His giving us His only Begotten Son so that we may receive salvation of our souls. We are not to abuse His grace, but we are to use His grace in times of our need and our weakness. It is His gift to us to strengthen us in the race of faith.

When we apply the grace of God, imagine how victorious we are in Christ Jesus no matter what comes along our way!
