No Longer Living To Please God But Living Pleased By God

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:23-34

Are you that Christian who feels that God is so pleased when you do all the good things for His Kingdom? What about when you fail to accomplish your God-given tasks or if you fail to practice His Word? Do you think that God is displeased and may even ignore you for a while?

When we all became believers of the Trinity and become baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and of the Holy Spirit, most of us are still carrying the old ways and thinking that we learned from the world. That is why we are called to renew our mind daily by reading the Word of God.

When sin came into Adam and Eve’s life, we were separated from the presence of our true Father and became orphans. And this world has taught us that in order to please the one we love, we are to give our very best. Otherwise, they will be disappointed. From childhood through education and up to the years of career building, humans are taught to please others, whether it’s their parents, their teachers, or their boss. And most of the time, even when we have learned of God’s love through Christ Jesus, we associate our Father with our loved ones and think that we need to please Him or else He will be disappointed or displeased.

If some can please God and some are not able to please Him, on what basis, then, can our Father be pleased? If we pleased our Father with our own works, then wouldn’t it be unfair for those who are born poor and have nothing to give? How about our fellow believers who committed terrible crimes in their past lives and face nothing but people condemning them for what they did? Will they still be able to please God at all in the future?

The ways of the Kingdom are different from the ways of this world. In this world, people aim to please others in order to earn something. But in our Father’s Kingdom, He already sent a solution so that all performances and boastings of men could end—our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” This verse clearly tells us that no man is able to match the standards of God, and each one of us falls short of His standards. It is only by the grace of God through Jesus Christ that we are able to truly please Him. When you receive the Lord Jesus Christ and place your faith in Him, that alone makes you pleasing to our Father. All our personal efforts and performances end before Christ, for He has done it all for us. Christ is enough for us to be pleasing to the Father, not our own works or efforts but by His grace through faith in Christ.

So now, when you do something for the glory of God, don’t do it to please Him. Rather, do it because you have received His grace and you want to bring glory to your Father, who is full of love, compassion, and kindness. Do things out of your love for Him, not to earn His love.
