HOW TO BRING UP A CHILD IN THE LORD

Most parents find it difficult bringing up their children in the Lord; especially when they are in their adolescence. I bet that all parents were as happy as if they were in paradise when their baby was born. But some parents feel like it is a curse, when they find it hard to bring up their children in the Lord.

Your child is a gift from GOD, if you consider your child as not yours but GOD’s, then you will never fail to pay attention to your child each and every time of their life. “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalm 127:3 KJV). Jesus wanted us to be like children who have pure minds and hearts. So this means that children already have a good base and we only have to guide them; not the worldly future, but their future in Christ.

From a Christian perspective, it is the right time to teach them the right things. But from a scientific perspective, it is the right time for them to show what to do. And I wonder how science can beat GOD! The Bible said it ages ago before science thought about it “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverb 22:6). Because most of the children do what they see, not what they are told, if we ask the children to not to lie, and if we asked our child to answer our phone and to say “dad is not at home”, we spoil them; we actually teach them the worst thing. “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea” (Matthew 18:6 KJV).

What is more is that, our good Lord is happy when children praise Him. Get your children to praise him all the time; your children will always be close to GOD. “And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased, And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?”(Matthew 21: 15,16 KJV).
Why is it so hard for us to show GOD’s ways? If we already walked in the right path, it would have been easier for us to bring up our children in the Lord. If we feel it is very hard to do so, then we first need to lean towards the right path, before guiding our children.
