HOW TO OVERCOME YOUR FEARS

1John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Many of us have heard it being said that FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. No matter who we are, there has been a point in our life where we were really afraid of something. Fear comes in so many forms. We have the natural fear which is an instinct God has placed in us to help us. As humans we are all afraid of fire because it burns, when you see a lion running up to you the first thing that happens is you begin to shake and tremble under fear. These are all natural forms of fear.

The other form/kind of fear is the unnatural one. It is when you are living less than what God has said. Being afraid to take an action, being afraid to do something God has told you to do. For example God has called you to sing and when you compare your voice to the voice of your choir leader or people you admire you just say to yourself, Oh no this is certainly not God. Fear is the greatest weapon the enemy uses to try to hold us back. Fear is not from God. It’s designed to paralyze us and keep us from God’s blessings.

The verse tells us it is love that casts out fear. If we understand by love, that we are in God, and God in us, that we are sons, and that we know God, and that everlasting life is in us: he concludes correctly, that we may well gather peace and quietness by this.

This love does not cast out every kind of fear, but it cast out the fear which comes with torment. Love is not an affection which produces fear. In the love which, we have for a parent, a child, a friend, there is no fear. If a man had perfect love to God, he would have no fear of anything–for what would he have to dread? He would have no fear of death, for he would have nothing to dread beyond the grave. It is guilt that makes men fear what is to come; but he whose sins are pardoned, and whose heart is filled with the love of God, has nothing to dread in this world or the world to come. The angels in heaven, who have always loved God and one another, have no fear, for they have nothing to dread in the future; the redeemed in heaven, rescued from all danger, and filled with the love of God, have nothing to dread; and as far as that same loves operates on earth, it delivers the soul now from all apprehension of what is to come.

If you’ve allowed fear to steal from you in any area of life, it is time to let the love of God begin to take away this fear. Fear is a weapon the devil uses to make us not wanting to do something God has told us to do. The devil will always come with the question, are you sure God told you to do this? Have you forgotten what happened to this person and that person when they tried to do what you plan on doing? All you need to do is close that “ear door” and just continue to meditate on Gods promises. Receive His truth and speak His truth. Let Him set you free and lead you into victory as you close the door on fear.
