Faithfulness In Small Things

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. Luke 16:10

Are you tired of waiting for God’s promises to come to pass in your life? Do you find yourself complaining more and worrying more as you wait? Being a Christian doesn’t mean having a perfect life. In fact, we will really mess up from time to time, but God allows that so that what’s in our heart will be revealed. Then upon realization, we can continuously grow and mature in the Lord.

Many Christians think that when God speaks His promises to them, it’s going to be like a week-long or a year worth of wait. We always have our own ideas and concepts of how things are going to happen, without realizing that no matter how good we think our ideas or concepts are, the Father’s plans are always better. He accomplishes His promises in ways we have never considered. Plus, we tend to miss out on the hardships, trials, and struggles we need to face along the way.

Faithfulness in Small Things

Let’s take a look at the life of Joseph, who became a ruler in Egypt, and see how relates to his life. We know that he went through a lot before he came to such a high position. Joseph went through a lot of pain and emotional suffering, and was humbled by the situations he went through. However, it was Joseph’s attitude that kept him moving forward, so that the LORD made him successful in all things (Genesis 39). And when he became the ruler of Egypt, he even managed to forgive his brothers, despite what they did to him. Instead of becoming bitter because of the pain, Joseph used every hardship to become a better version of himself by simply relying on God in all things. In all situations, he just acknowledged the Lord.

The lesson we can learn from Joseph’s life is that while you wait for answers to your prayers, it is your attitude in the waiting that will determine whether you receive God’s promise or not. If you are praying for your spouse and still don’t see any transformation, keep on loving and praying for them. Don’t give up and don’t harbor bitterness; just keep the love of God in the forefront of your mind, just like Joseph. Do not complain, whine or declare negative things.

If Joseph kept on worrying, complaining and gave up along the way, then he would not have become the ruler of Egypt, despite having that dream from God as a child. When God speaks a promise to us, it is up to us to receive it or not. When we stay faithful to God, even at the most difficult times in our life, then whatever we ask for will come to us at just the right time.

Joseph was faithful to God even on the most difficult days of his journey. He did not know that he would become a ruler of Egypt, but God saw his faithfulness in the smallest of things, so God entrusted to him such a huge responsibility. Not only that, but Joseph was also a just ruler when he forgave his brothers and allowed his blessings to flow down to them.
What is God saying to you right now? What is the Holy Spirit encouraging in you right now?
