You Are A Fruitful Tree

He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. Luke 13:6-9

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree reminds us that as Christians we are expected to bear fruits in the Kingdom of God at a certain time. This means that we are expected to grow and mature in our relationship with the LORD as time goes by. We don’t simply sit down in church and forever listen to the Word but then continue living the way we always did. As Christians, we all have a calling to spread the Gospel and the Kingdom of God, not just in words but in deeds (James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.). Our faith in God must be found in action, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit has to be evident in our lives as the Word of God grows from within us.

You Are a Fruitful Tree

We are not like the Barren Fig Tree that is going to be cut down because it doesn’t bear fruit. When we walk in our identity and purpose in Christ, we know that we will bear fruit as we abide in Christ. This parable shows us Christ’s intercession for us and the mercy that God the Father is extending to all of His people. Therefore, we shouldn’t slack off and become lazy in anything God has called us to do.

If you think that you need to level up in your Christian life, then that is a call from God to walk out of your comfort zone and start moving by faith. If you think you are slacking off, simply repent and ask the grace of the LORD to empower you to walk in your true identity and purpose in Christ. Just remember that you are not a Barren Fig Tree. Jesus Christ died for you because you are worth dying for. Now it is time that you shine the light of Christ in you and be empowered by the Holy Spirit each day as you awake.
