The Power of Confessing Your Sins before God

“For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.” – Psalm 32:4-5

As you can see from the Scriptures above, there are two things that had happened to king David when he refused to confess his sins to God: first, he was physically affected and second, the Lord didn’t stop with the disciplines until he finally confessed his sins. But the moment he confessed his sins to God, the burden of guilt feeling lifted off from his heart and the Lord forgave him.

Many times, we can be like David who tries to hide our sins before God. Sometimes, our body becomes weak and we even become ill that we don’t know what’s going on with our body only to realize that we have unconfessed sins before the LORD.

There are many reasons why a believer may be hiding his or her sins to God. Maybe, they think that God would be angry if they revealed their sins to him; or that God would punish them; but most probably, people who still have unconfessed sins in their heart do not have the courage to even come before the LORD for they are too afraid as they envisioned a God who is mad at them.

If you can relate to this article, it is about time that you come to God and confess those sins and guilt in your heart. As you can see from the Scripture above, King David realized how quickly God had forgiven him; And how quickly his guilt had left him. Continuing Psalm 32:6-7, king David said, “For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.”

Confess your sins to God and don’t ever think that He is mad at you for sinning. God knows that all men are bound to commit sin because of our fallen state. God already made a solution to your sins 2000 years ago when He sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to save mankind. God is not mad at you. Come to His presence and admit your faults because He is your only Protector in this world.

I encourage you to say this prayer in your heart to help you confess your sins before our God:

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I humbly come before Your presence. I give thanks to Your Word that is full of mercy, love and compassion. Forgive me if I have hidden my sins before you for I had a wrong mindset of who You are. But now that I know You will forgive me of my sins, I confess all my sins to you: (confess everything to God and just be yourself. Pour out your heart before Him). Thank You my Daddy God and I receive Your forgiveness, healing and breakthrough in my life. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
