Romans 8:19 reveals to us that it is not just humans who are expecting God to move, but all creatures are actually waiting for the revealing of the sons of God. As a child of God, the Father is waiting for you to come into the fullness of His glory and be revealed as His son or daughter.
From Old Testament times to this day, the people of God seem to be waiting for God to do something, not knowing that they’re the answer to their own prayers.

Moses was among the people of God who witnessed the oppression of the Israelites. He didn’t know then that God would call him to lead the people out of slavery. Of course, Moses wasn’t confident until God showed Moses His power. Thus, Moses became the agent of God during His time in the world and led the Israelites out of Egypt. Saul was another of those who never expected to become a king and leader of Israel. In fact, when he was about to be appointed as king, he hid himself in a box, for he lacked confidence (1 Samuel 10-11). David, who became king after Saul, never expected that everything would seem opposite from the calling he first received. He hid in the caves because Saul was after his life.

Yet David’s response to God was all about faith and perseverance, and he did not give up. God used the darkest moments of David’s life to bring about thousands of victories against their enemies (1 Samuel 18-2 Samuel 8). In the New Testament, when the people of God were becoming hopeless, Jesus Christ came at precisely the right time and chose His disciples, who were only fishermen, tax collectors, and other normal people. The disciples were probably just waiting for the Messiah to come, not knowing that they would be called to reveal the glory of God as sons, impacting many nations.

Perhaps you are also waiting for God. You may be praying for something to happen in your church, in your city, in your school, in your office, or in your country, but have you considered that maybe God is waiting for you to make the first move? Instead of you asking God to pour out His Spirit, He may be telling you to pour His Spirit out wherever you go.

Perhaps it’s time for you to inquire of the Lord, just like David did, and listen to His instructions. To learn more about asking God for instruction, click on this article. (Waiting on God can mean Asking for His Instructions – 2 Samuel 5:22-25)
