Your Daily Choices Reveal The State Of Your Relationship With God

Matthew 6:24
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

As followers of Jesus, we are faced every day with choices—to walk in the Spirit or to walk in the flesh. Our goal should be to walk with the Holy Spirit and be led by Him. But the world doesn’t make it easy. The moment we said “yes” to Jesus, we declared war against Satan. Jesus warned us we would face many troubles, but He told us to take heart because He has overcome the world.

Each day, from the moment we wake up, we must decide whether to pray first or check our phones. We may choose between watching movies with friends or going to church. We can only choose one over the other; we cannot serve both.

As Jesus said, we cannot serve both God and money, nor can we serve ourselves and God at the same time. Even in ministry, when we face conflicts, we must choose between reacting in the flesh or abiding in the Spirit. When someone wrongs us, we either retaliate or obey God’s Word, trusting Him to handle the matter (Proverbs 20:22 Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!”     Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.).
