Your Good Health Has Been Paid For

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

Have you ever prayed for a sick person with a mindset that the person indeed needs your help in healing? Are you that Christian who begs the Father to heal your loved one? Are you frustrated in declaring healing to the sick because they don’t get better?

We all know as believers that Jesus Christ has given us the authority to heal the sick in His name. In His name, our health was paid for by His blood 2000 years ago, which means that sickness should have no right to stay in our bodies. But people get sick every day, and it seems that many believers truly do not know how to compensate for what God, through Jesus Christ, has paid for. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Jesus Christ took all the suffering and the punishment to free us from the curse of sin and death – spiritually and physically – and that is why we are to offer our bodies to God as a living sacrifice.

When we ask God to heal us or someone we love, it seems that we believe that healing isn’t there yet and that it is something to be received. We begin to rely on our own strength and ways instead of resting on what Jesus Christ has already done. We pray to God to ask for healing when healing has already been given and paid for!

I remember my experience with a friend who was asking for prayer for her sister-in-law’s baby, who was diagnosed with a congenital defect. I declared the Lord’s miracle for the baby and the supernatural alignment of all his internal organs. In my mind, I was begging God to make a way for the poor baby. Suddenly, in my spirit, I realized that I believed in the wrong thing. I actually believed that the baby’s sickness was greater than what Jesus Christ had already paid for—his health. So I started changing my declarations to state that the doctor could have made a mistake in his diagnosis. The baby is truly healed in Jesus’ name! I started to claim the good health that Jesus Christ paid for. It is the devil that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy (John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.). He is the one stealing our good health, even if we don’t realize it’s he who is actually stealing it; so we are asking God to give us healing when He has already given it to us!

We need to take full authority for what Jesus Christ has given us, and one of these is perfect health! We claim our health by declaring that the payment for it, which is the blood of Jesus, has been made! A prayer in faith will heal the sick, says (James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.).
