THE POWER OF DISCIPLINE IN CHRIST

You-face-your-greatest

The power of discipline in Christ; who else was more disciplined than Christ himself? We read in the Bible that our savior was obedient to his earthly parents; “And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart” (Luke 2: 51). Jesus is not mentioned to have murmured against his parents. He is said to have been a man with discipline and following the commandments. When can somebody be called disciplined? It is only when they follow the commandments of God. Not the 10 commandments but rather every spoken and sure word of God. “But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? “And Jesus answering said unto him, suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.” (Matthew 3: 14, 15 KJV)
Discipline is also caring for the others. Jesus did care for the others, even if they were needy of him. How many of us do respect people that are waiting for us and are in need of us? Our savior was! And is still, and forever. He took his stance right even when he had to oppose many that did not behave disciplined. How should a Christian behave in the current society? Many people think that we should be called good people by the people surrounding us. It is not true; the people surrounding Jesus did not call him a good man all the time. Sometimes they called him the leader of devils! But the truth was entirely different; He was GOD from the beginning! We like to be looked as nice people in the society, no, that is not the discipline that Jesus wants us to follow. He wants us to have fear in GOD; not respect in GOD. Many believers think that they should show respect to GOD, of course we must. But is it enough? No! The Bible tells us that the fear of GOD is the beginning of wisdom. Are we wise? It is simple to put it in this way; wise people can always be discipline people too. So to be disciplined, not in the earthly manner, but in Jesus, we should fear GOD.
How humble are we? Disciplined people are humble, no matter how powerful they are. Do you know that when you are so humble, the others are always below you? Jesus was so humble when He was inquired by the Pilate. He was the king of kings, but he answered in so much disciplined manner as He made himself humble. And that made Pilate to think that he was righteous. “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered; Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice” (John 18:43 KJV). And that is why the Pilate had to wash his hands and did not want to take part of the murder! The discipline of Jesus was expressed in his manner of conversation and that was so powerful that a man with powers to kill a person turned to respect Jesus. How disciplined are our conversations? We should learn the discipline from nowhere but Jesus. He should be the one and only example for us in anything including discipline, it is only then that we can really be Christians because we follow Christ.
