HIS PROMISES ARE YES AND AMEN

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”(2 Corinthians 1:20, NKJV)

Growing up, I used to hear a lot of preachers say, when you pray, God answers in three ways. Yes, No or May be. So I know there are lots of people like me when you pray, you are just thinking to yourself. Hmm may be God will answer or hmm may be his answer is a No etc. I used to do that a lot and it never really felt right. The Bible says, even if we who are not good are able to give good gifts to our children, then what about God?

It was later on that I found the scripture, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” It was a challenge when I read it the first time. But one preacher who is one of the few people I listen to said, the promises of God are Yes. It is never a no, may be etc. From that time I realized I have been lied to by other biblical teachers I used to listen to. As am writing, I don’t pray thinking God won’t answer. I search the scriptures and if there is a promise, I pray that promise knowing that the answer is Yes.

Here is an example

1) Hebrew 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Based on this verse, God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us so even if I feel that he is not there with me, I pray the scripture and that feeling just leaves.

2) The Bible says honor your father and mother so that you may live a long life on earth. So what does this tell us. You don’t go around praying to God let you live long etc. All you need to do is to honor your parents and that promise just becomes yours.

3) His word says Jesus exchanged places with us. He became a curse so we would be blessed. Therefore, you as a believer cannot be cursed once you are born again. You are Gods righteousness.

Concerning Gods promises, He didn’t say come and beg me. You don’t have to beg God to be good to you. You don’t have to plead with Him to help you. God wants to help you. He wants to pour out His abundant blessing on your life. The promises of God are a done deal, all you need to do is to believe and claim it. This is not a claim it, grab it gospel but it is telling you to take hold of what is yours. If something is yours, you just have to make sure nobody takes it away from you. That’s how the enemy is working. He is trying to spread lies in the church so we don’t fully grow to become like Christ.

The good news is that when we surrender our hearts to Him, He empowers us to fulfill every one of His commands. He equips us for every good work because He wants to see us live a blessed life. That’s why His promises are “yes” and “amen”!

From today, remember anything you pray based on his promises are Yes. They are yes. Stay blessed
