What Are the Hidden Treasure And The Pearl Of Great Value
Jesus Christ demonstrated great wisdom in the parables He shared throughout the Gospels. He wanted us to seek Him in order to understand their meaning and draw closer to Him. The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl of Great Value (Matthew 13:44–46) both present the same concept: the Kingdom of Heaven is worth giving up everything to attain.
In these stories, a man discovers something of great value and willingly sells all he has to obtain it. What is Jesus saying to us through these parables? How do they apply to our lives today?
Think back to the moment you first encountered Jesus Christ. Were you willing to give up everything for Him? Often, as time passes and we become more involved in service, we forget the importance of our personal relationship with Jesus. We may become distracted and lose sight of what truly matters.
These parables remind us that every hardship and trial we endure is meant to deepen our relationship with Christ—our greatest treasure. Like the man in the parables, we once recognized the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus and surrendered our worldly pursuits.
But even more beautiful is the truth that in the eyes of our Heavenly Father, we are that treasure and pearl of great value. He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. God gave up everything—even Himself—because He saw our worth.

Let these parables renew your understanding of your identity in Christ and reignite your desire to pursue Him above all else. Jesus is worth every sacrifice, and when He gave His life for us, He deemed us worthy to die for (Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.).
