Your Treasures Reveal Your Heart

Matthew 6:19–21
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth… But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

It’s not wrong to dream big as Christians, but the question is whether our dreams serve only ourselves or bless others. Jesus taught that earthly treasures are temporary, vulnerable to decay and theft, but heavenly treasures are eternal.

Treasures of the heart are whatever we value more than God—money, beauty, achievements, possessions. When we prioritize temporary things, they can be taken from us, often leaving us stressed and broken. God is not against us enjoying life, but He warns us to guard against idolatry. Blessings are given so we can bless others—helping missions, supporting churches, sharing knowledge. These are treasures stored in heaven, safe from rust, moths, and thieves.
