Trusting in God’s Promise

Trust is very important in a relationship. It is the cord that binds two people together, for trust is an evidence of true love in the relationship. It is the same in our relationship with the Lord. Our trust in Him is very important not just in your walk of faith but it is important to God because it shows that we truly love Him if we trust in His Words and in His ways. Sometimes, our trust can be tested when things don’t go the way we thought it to be, how we want things to be, or we don’t get answers for what we are praying for ‘right away.’ In fact, the first people I knew whose trust in God had been tested severely were the Israelites at the time of Moses. God has promised them a Savior to come, a King who will rule over the hearts of men. But it took decades before Jesus Christ was born. It took decades for God’s promise to come to pass. Many had died not seeing this promise. But God’s Word ultimately came to pass. And when Christ died for the sins of mankind, men who have died believing in God’s promise were raised to life

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isa. 55:11).

Why is this so? How do you trust in God in moments like this?

God said in Isaiah 55:8-9, “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God’s ways and thinking is not the same as men’s. That is why many times, you may not be able to understand why things do happen in your life. When God says “no” to a prayer you have been praying for, simply trust that God has something else better for you. When things are chaotic in your life, simply trust that God will work things out for your good, always.

And you must not forget that your choices and decisions in life too matters a lot. Our free will to choose is something God wouldn’t violate or control. When we want to do something so bad but is against God’s will, one sure thing that will happen is things will blow up. We can really make messes when we miss the will of God in our life, which is why surrendering our will to Him is very important. When you come to surrender your life to Jesus, and surrender all your will and ways to Him so that He can move freely in your life, you can be assured that you will hear His voice, His guidance, His Words of promises, His ways and truth, through the Holy Spirit in you.

But it doesn’t stop from hearing – you have to start obeying after that.

Trust and relationship is always two-way. It is a partnership. You can trust in God knowing that He desires all good things for you. And when He says a promise to you, He will fulfill it.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isa. 55:11).
