Rejoicing In All Circumstances Is God’s Perfect Will In Christ Jesus

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Hardships and struggles in life can knock us down physically, financially, emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually as Christians. When things aren’t going in our favor and situations seem to be going the wrong way, life can begin to drain us if we are not communing with God and His Word daily.

Sometimes, we can focus too much on the negativity that we forget to even thank God for another day of blessings. We can easily become distracted and discouraged when things don’t go according to our concepts. And when we focus on the wrong things for a long time, we begin to waver in our faith and become led by our own thoughts and feelings. (Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.) says that we are not to lean on our own understanding and that we are to seek God’s will in all that we do.
When we don’t understand what is happening, we must not rely on our own feelings or thoughts but seek God’s will in all things.

So what is the will of God in times of hardships and troubles? What are we going to do during such a difficult time? 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 gives us the answer. It says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” It sounds crazy to rejoice in the most difficult of times. Why is it that God wants us to rejoice, to pray, and to give thanks in all circumstances, including the most difficult times of our lives? The answer is: that’s who we really are as His children. God’s children are victorious through their faith in Jesus Christ. And in all circumstances – whether the situation is good or not – we are not moved and defined by what is happening. We can rejoice; we can continually pray and give thanks to the Father Who loves us and Who will take care of all that matters to us.

That is why it is God’s will for us to rejoice, to pray continually, and to give thanks—we are secured in Him Who is faithful, dependable, able, and true. The more we trust our heavenly Father, the more we can relax and simply be at rest, even during the darkest times of our lives.

You are a child of God. So what are you going to say to your situation? Are you going to let it break you or breakthrough?
