Asking In Faith By Not Wavering

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8

Are you asking God for wisdom? Are you praying to God for something, but it’s taking a long time to come? What if God makes you wait even longer? Will you keep on believing or are you going to give up?

Every day in our Christian lives, as we wait for God’s promises to manifest in our lives, we are faced with different questions. If we are not careful, doubt and worries can begin to consume us. God answers each of our prayers differently, according to His own will and purposes. His timing is perfect and the way He executes His promises are perfect.

Sometimes, we have our own concepts and ideas of how God will bring about His promises, and if they don’t come at our expected timeline or in a way we wanted, some Christians may start to doubt God’s faithfulness. However, James 1:5-8 reminds us that when we ask something from God, we must ask in faith and not be double-minded. When we ask in faith, we believe that we have already received what we asked God for. You must strongly believe that you will get what you are asking for.

We become double-minded Christians when we doubt God’s goodness and faithfulness. This leads us to become unstable in our ways; we become led by our own feelings and understanding, instead of acknowledging and trusting in the ways of the LORD, who knows all things. Then you will begin to miss what God is doing, simply because He is not doing what you want Him to do.

Most Christians are unaware that every little decision they make also affects how they are going to receive the promises of God. For instance, when a breakthrough is close, you will usually experience a terrible battle and lots of breaking. If you doubt God and give up along the way, then you won’t be able to receive the breakthrough that God will bless you with because you decided to give up.

You mustn’t waver in your faith before God, for you know that all His promises are yes and amen. His timing and how He executes His promises are absolute and perfect. All you need to do is simply trust in Him, praise Him as you wait, and acknowledge the LORD in all things, even if you don’t understand His ways.

What are you asking God for? Do you believe that you are going to receive it?
