HOW TO RESOLVE CONFLICTS: A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE

How to resolve conflicts in a Christian perspective? We Christians get the name as we follow Christ. So it is more than probable for us to look and follow our Savior in resolving conflicts. How did Jesus resolve conflicts; or what did He say about resolving conflicts? He taught us to pray “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” (Matthew 6:12 KJV).

The best way to do this is by forgiving the offenders. Conflicts arise as a result of non agreement in words or deeds. When we speak in opposition to others or when others speak in opposition to us, we get into conflicts. When we do something to offend others or when others do things to us, we get into conflicts. Sometimes we would have to deal with the conflicts between two other people, where we will only be peace makers. What is the result of resolving conflicts? Peace, ultimately! And that is what Jesus said; “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of GOD” (Matthew 5:9 KJV). And Jesus Christ clearly points out the importance of coming to agreement; “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Mathew 18:19 KJV)

The Bible says how important the people who make peace are. Some of the problems arise out of our ego or proud nature. It may happen to us in the work place or society or even within the church. When we think that we are superior to others, and the others do not treat us superior to them, we get into conflict them. This kind of conflict can be resolved by making ourselves humble in front of our GOD and in front of our brothers and sisters and neighbors.

As equal as forgiving, it is important to confess; if we did anything wrong. When we know that we did something wrong, we should learn to confess. Our GOD almighty is the most high, so He will forgive us for any sin that we did against our brothers and sisters or even against our own GOD. He is there to help us. We may think that some of our brothers or sisters or neighbors are very tight person that they would not forgive us. But when in conflict with them, if we apologize to them, we can see how soft they will become. They will be convinced to forgive when we present ourselves so humble, they will forgive us, the conflict will be solved and we can see how easy it is to resolve conflicts. It is when we confess, that is when we can be baptized for our GOD.” And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins” (Matthew 3: 6). It is the confessing part that is more worthy. If we confess to men, definitely most of the conflicts will be solved.

After all, GOD wanted us to be his children. We are the chosen ones of GOD. GOD loves unconditionally and He loves anyone and everyone. We should learn to be like GOD. If we loved anyone and just everyone, there wouldn’t even be a need to resolve conflicts; as there would be no conflicts. In a Christian perspective, how to resolve conflicts is really to know how to follow Jesus Christ in all his ways of love, forgiveness and humble being. May we follow His footsteps!
