WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE,SOUL?

Colossians 1:27, NASB –“… God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
The central issue of the Christian faith = “Christ in you”

WHAT ARE WE? –A TRI-PART BEING –BODY, SOUL, AND SPIRIT
1 Thessalonians 5:23, NASB –“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1. Our Spirit –Our Core Life Entity
James 2:26, NASB –“… the body without the spirit is dead …”

2. Our Soul –Our Mind, Will, And Emotions
a) Mind / Intellect – Luke 12:19, NASB –“And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have many goods laid
up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.’”
b) Will / Volition – Psalm 146:1, NASB –“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!”
c) Emotions – John 12:27, NASB –“Now My soul has become troubled…”

3. Our Body –Our Human Shell
John 2:19,21, NASB –(19) Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” … (21) But He was speaking of the temple of His body.
OUR PRE-SALVATION CONDITION –WE WERE DEAD
Ephesians 2:1, NASB – “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins …”

Ephesians 2:3, NASB –“… we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath ….”

Our spirit was dead, in that it was disconnected or separated from the life of God
Isaiah 59:2, NASB –“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.”
