THE POTTERS HOUSE

One of God’s priorities is to develop your personal potential. God has made you as a vessel of honor and now He is preparing you as a people of excellence! It’s not enough to have the calling in our lives; we have to have the character to go with it!

Jeremiah 18:1-6 NIV – (1) This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord. (2) Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message. (3) So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. (4) But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. (5) Then the word of the Lord came to me: (6) O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does? Declares the Lord. Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

1. THE POTTER IS A PERSON
Isaiah 64:8 AMP – Yet, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our Potter, and we all are the work of Your hand. He chose to make man in His own image and became personally and physically involved in their formation. Genesis 2:7, 21-22 AMP – (7) Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being. (21) And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept, He took one of his ribs or a part of his side and closed up the place with flesh. (22) And the rib or part of his side which the Lord God had taken from the man He built up and made into a woman,
and He brought her to the man.

Psalm 139:13 NIV – For You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Job 10:8a AMP – Your hands have formed me and made me.

2. THE POTTER HAS POWER OVER THE CLAY
Jeremiah 18:6 CEV – People of Israel, I, the Lord, have power over you, just as the potter has power over the clay.
Romans 9:20b NIV – Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, Why did you make me like this?
Ecclesiastes 5:2,4a, 5 – NIV – Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth. (4a) When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. (5) It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.
Proverbs 20:25 AMP – It is a snare to a man to utter a vow of consecration rashly and not until afterward inquire whether he can fulfill it.

God will do whatever is necessary, in keeping with His character, to bring your will back in line with His. He will use every situation in your life to get your attention

3. THE POTTER HAS A DIVINE PLAN
When God, the Master Potter, takes us in hand, He already has a perfect plan for each one of us.
Ephesians 2:10 AMP – For we are God’s own handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, born anew that we may do those good works which God predestined, planned beforehand, for us, taking paths which He prepared ahead of time, that we should walk in them, living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I Corinthians 2:9 NIV – No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him…”
Philippians 1:6 AMP – And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, right up to the time of His return, developing that good work and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

4. THE POTTER HAS INCREDIBLE PATIENCE
It takes time to make a worthwhile product, and God is willing to take that time and produce quality. There are many believers today who are spiritually gifted; the call is there; the faith is there; the desire is there; but they are still unsuitable because of their character or because they are still maturing. They want to step up into their calling but they aren’t ready and the result – people get hurt!

5. THE POTTER HAS A PASSION FOR USING PEOPLE
He takes great delight in seeing the finished product fulfilling its purpose. He delights in putting you to good use. You are useful to Him for
ministry!

Isaiah 6:8 AMP – Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us?

That question is still resounding in Heaven. Who is going to go for Me? Who is going to make a difference in My Name?
Who is going to fulfill the design for which I made them?
Who is going to start a prayer movement for Me?
Who is going to start a youth movement for Me?
Who is going to heal the sick for Me?
Who is going to touch the poor for Me?
Who is going to go to the unreached for Me?
Who is going to tell them that I love them?
Lord, send me!
