Staying Secured in God’s Love despite Your Shortcomings

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. – Psalm 37:23-24

Our life as believers is not without mistakes and stumbling blocks. From time to time, we can do the wrong things; we mess up, and even mess up big time. All of it is part of our daily walk with God. We are all not holy in an instant because we are all in the process towards becoming like Christ. And as you can read from the Scriptures above, it is the LORD who directs our steps. Meaning, we won’t be stuck in the same place for God will constantly direct and guide us to His paths.

And God knows that we will experience stumbling blocks along the way for Jesus said, “Then said he unto the disciples, it is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!” (Luke 17:1). But God is giving us the assurance that even though we stumble we will never fall because God is securely holding our hands that keeps us from falling away from Him.

Sometimes, small mistakes or big mistakes can make you feel guilty and magnify all your dirt as you face God. But do you know that even as you come to Him in humility and in weaknesses, He still delights in you? That is part of your life and God delights in every detail of your life. So, come to Him and simply confess the mistakes you have done, and God is just to forgive you. Moreover, “if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.” (1 John 3:20).

Know that God is never shocked when you make a mistake and He does not disown you as His child or hates you when you stumble. It is the lie of the enemy when you think God would. Our heavenly Father knows what’s going on in our lives and He knows the things that will make you stumble; that is why He is asking us to always read and meditate His Words, to pray without ceasing and to always yield to the Holy Spirit because offenses or things that make us stumble will always come along the way.

And even if you stumble, stay secured in your faith knowing that God is holding you tightly with His hands, and never letting go of you. So don’t let go of His hands too. God will never allow you to fall and be separated from His presence because of His great love for you through Jesus Christ:

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39
