BIBLE VERSES ABOUT LOVE AND MARRIAGE

love between husband and wife

One thing that God speaks to very strongly in the Bible is the institution of marriage. There are indeed many Bible verses about love and marriage where God gives instructions and advice for both husbands and wives on how to love and support one another. According to Bible verses about love, the institution of marriage is holy and although God abhors divorce, he only allows breakup in a marriage in case of one reason; adultery. Below are some of the verses about love and marriage. All the verses are taken from Revised Standard Version.
1. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 – Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bars all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
2. 1 Peter 3: 1-3 – Likewise you wives, be submissive to your husbands, so that some, though they do not obey the word, may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, when they see your reverent and chaste behavior.
3. 1Peter 3: 7 – Likewise you husbands, live considerately with your wives, bestowing honor on the woman as the weaker sex, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered.
4. Ephesians 5: 31-32 – For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become on flesh. This is mystery is a profound one and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the Church.
5. Romans 8: 28 – We know that in everything God works for god with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.
6. Ephesians 5 33 – However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
7. 1 Peter 3: 8-9 – Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of the brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind. Do not return evil with evil or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing.
8. 1 Corinthians 11: 10 – That is why a woman ought to have a veil on her head, because of the angels.
These are just some of Bible verses about love and marriage. It is important to note that they not only address wives and husbands but love between Christians as well.
