What Jesus Teaches Us About Life In The Spirit

When Jesus heard the news of John the Baptist’s death, He withdrew by boat to a quiet place (Matthew 14:13–14). Humanly speaking, grief is one of the hardest emotions we face. We often want solitude to process such loss.

But Jesus teaches us a deeper way. Though He sought solitude, the crowd followed Him. Despite His sorrow, Jesus was moved with compassion and healed the sick. He didn’t allow His grief to control His response. Instead, He walked by the Spirit.

That same day, Jesus not only healed many but also miraculously fed the five thousand. He overcame personal pain by surrendering to the Spirit of God.

This is the essence of walking in the Spirit: choosing God’s will above emotions. If Jesus had acted from His grief, thousands would have gone hungry and unhealed. But because He walked in the Spirit, the power of God flowed freely through Him.

As believers, we are to follow Christ’s example. We are no longer driven by flesh but led by the Spirit (Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.) . Even in weakness, God’s strength is made perfect. The Holy Spirit helps and intercedes for us. Through Him, we can overcome emotional setbacks and fulfill God’s purpose in our lives.
